Cantarrana Meditation is based on an improvised live performance at Finca Cantarrana in Periana, my home in Andalusia. Originally created as a prelude to a candlelight concert, they inspired me to create this meditative music. Cantarrana refers to the frogs, from whom the piece takes its name. As such, they have also become part of the composition.

Musicians tend to be very emotional; I’m no exception, and I channel my emotions into the music I create. ‘Impact’ is my cry against all the suffering inflicted in Palestine and elsewhere in the world in the pursuit of power and money. My weapon is my music, which in this piece seeks to express the bomb blasts, the loss of life and the despair. In my own way, certainly, but a statement intended to shake people up – things cannot go on like this.

Get Lost! is a piece that reflects on what is currently happening in our world. My sense of powerlessness transformed into deep emotions using my drums and synths. Around 18 minutes of introspection – not something to shy away from, consume whilst eating or whilst reading a book. Rather, something that demands your full attention and gives you the chance to delve a little with me into what is. The emotions are intentional and are part of me and of you?

These turbulent times have not left me unscathed either. So I have processed some of my emotions about current events musically here. This first part of a series of publications on the subject of emotions describes the period from the Big Bang to the massive global volcanic activity at the time when life began to develop on our planet. Essentially, it is a painting that uses sounds instead of colours. At the same time, it accurately reflects the situation on our planet today, where nothing is reliable anymore, where power interests and money overshadow everything human, and confusion arises about the path ahead of us. A small time capsule of my view, nothing more. It is as it is.
